The McCarrick Family

One of the best, and the largest, success stories we have seen in our efforts here at Foster Parrots has to be the McCarrick family and their adopted birds.

Michael, Joy and their two fantastic children, James and Holly, suffered a terrible experience when, during a routine veterinary check-up and blood test, their beloved Alexandrian Ringneck Parakeet died in front of all of them during the blood draw.

A few months later, Michael called to ask if we had any birds for adoption. Soon after this phone call, Michael and Joy began volunteering. As chance, or perhaps fate, would have it a pair of Alexandrians (Jasmine and Maile) were surrendered, and both birds were adopted by the McCarricks.

After many visits by the entire family, their endless compassion and infectious love soon began to reach out to several other birds in need of a caring home, and it was not long until they had adopted 8 others (10 in all!) including Chloe and Cocoa, Umbrella Cockatoos.

The McCarricks moved to Vermont, built a beautiful home with a beautiful bird room, and they all are living happily ever after.

We would like to thank Michael, Joy, Holly and James for giving these birds such a wonderful life. We can only hope that we will continue to meet people of the same high caliber. If the people who come to adopt a bird or birds from Foster Parrots have half the compassion and commitment that the McCarricks have, we will all be luckier for having friends like these.

Keep scrolling down to meet more of the McCarrick family.
